Tadap begins with an angry young man avatar of Ishana (Ahan Shetty). He simply beats people up, smokes cigarettes, uses drugs and drinks alcohol. But, was Ishana always like this? Well, no, he wasn’t. The film goes into flashback and shows the romance between Ishana and Ramisa (Tara Sutaria). But, things don’t go according to plan and Ramisa gets married to someone else. So will this love story of Ishana and Ramisa have a happy ending? Or will there be a twist in this love story that will change things for them once again?

what’s hot?

The combo of director Milan Luthria and writer Rajat Arora has given us some really good films like Once Upon a Time in Mumbai and The Dirty Picture earlier. However, his last two releases, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara and Badshaho, were not a good watch. But, finally, the director-writer duo is back with a bang.

The first part of Tadap is brilliantly written and directed. This is a perfect package; It has comedy, drama, action and romance. Even this is not a copy-paste scenario; The screenplay has been changed a lot in the first half. Additional drama has been added to the film keeping in mind the Hindi film audience. The dialogues are clearly one of the best elements of the film; Especially on Saurabh Shukla’s tongue.

performance-wise; Ahan Shetty has made a great start. He has a good on-screen presence and has played the intense character very well. The only thing he needs to work on is lip sync during songs. Tara Sutaria’s role in the first half is that of a perfect Bollywood heroine; She looks beautiful and has a great romance with Ahaan. But, it is in the second half when she gets a chance to play the lead role in a few scenes, and the actress has nailed it.

Kumud Mishra and Saurabh Shukla are very good in their respective roles, and Sumit Gulati leaves a mark.

One more thing that everyone will love about Tadap and that is Pritam’s music. The songs are undoubtedly one of the highlights of the film and Irshad Kamil has a special mention for his songs.

What is not?

Like Kabir Singh, Tadap also has scenes that display toxic masculinity. But, we cannot say that the film is based on him, however, we cannot ignore it either. Also, while the first half is fresh, the second half is a bit underwhelming, and here, Milan and Rajat take the path of copy-paste. The pre-climax and climax are completely taken over from the RX100.

BL Verdict:

Tadap is neither a bad film nor a great film. It’s a good watch, and if you haven’t seen the RX100, you’ll enjoy it because the twists and turns will amaze you.
