Bollywood celebrities like Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shefali Shah with their 13th edition flagged off the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in Australia in its physical form.
Other personalities who were a part of it include singer Sona Mohapatra, former cricketer and former India captain Kapil Dev and filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Kabir Khan, Aparna Sen, Nikkhil Advani and Shoojit Sircar.
The festival, which started on Friday (August 12), will conclude on August 20.
Commenting on the occasion, Abhishek BacchanCurrently doing “absolutely pyar” in Melbourne, he is excited to witness the screening of his ‘Manmarziyaan’ co-star Taapsee Pannu’s upcoming film ‘Dobaara’.
He said, “I am eagerly waiting to see ‘Bagara’. Almost my entire family has represented India here and I am very proud of it. I am looking forward to be a part of all the celebrations and I would love to be here.” I thank Sarkar and Meetu for this. Feeling great to be given the Leadership in Cinema Award.”
The actors took to the stage in the presence of a special audience to announce this year’s event schedule.re:‘ Being the opening night movie.
Apart from the screening of over 120 films the other events are India’s Independence Day celebrations and a series of panel discussions among other specially curated events.
When asked about the South and Hindi film debate at the festival, actress Tamannaah Bhatia said, “I think this conversation is unique only to India, whenever I travel abroad I have never heard people differentiate, They call it Indian cinema. And it is the same here at IFFM.”
He feels that the audience wants to watch pan-India movies as more such content is being created and is being appreciated by all.
