    The Black List And WIF Reveal 2021 Episodic Lab Participants

    Out of a record 1,200 applicants, six pilots from eight authors have been selected to participate. In a professional development-focused lab, which includes master classes, pitch coaching, mentoring, and introductions to television industry representatives to help build a writing career. Over the past six years, the laboratory’s previous advisors and instructors have led Monica Beletsky (paternity), Carly Ray (watchman), Sono Patel (crazy ex girlfriend), Glen Mazara (the dark tower), Kira Snyder (story of the maid), Erica L Johnson (The Good Lord Bird), and Lauren LeFranc (impulse)

    Lab alumni have successfully worked in television with 80% representation In the industry, more than 80% have representation during or after the lab, 44% are employees in television shows, and most continue to work in entertainment.

    “We are extremely proud of our participants, past and present, who continue to thrive in an incredibly competitive landscape. And we have had the privilege of supporting them not only during their time in the lab, but throughout the years, because A predictable component to success in this industry is sticking to it,” says Michiko James, female film director and episodic lab co-manager.

    Megan Halpern, who runs the lab with James, said, “We are thrilled to build not only a community of writers, but mentors and mentors who return year after year to support these emerging writers, and Can’t thank them enough for making the lab, especially during the last year the pandemic changed the schedule. We couldn’t have done this without them.”

    The lab is launching this week, and will run a hybrid model of in-person and virtual sessions until November 2021.
