Two prominent members of the cast and crew of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) Shailesh Lodha and Asit Kumar Modi have been making headlines ever since they quit the show. In a recent development, it was reported that he has sued the production house for non-payment of dues and breach of contract. Although the makers remained tight-lipped earlier, Asit Kumar Modi has decided to break his silence on the matter.

In a conversation with ETimes, Modi revealed that a few months back, he had received a notice regarding unpaid dues, but could not understand the reason as he had refused to clear them. As a producer, his company had been reminding Shailesh to clear his dues, but the actor didn’t respond and completed the necessary formalities. The portal quoted the producer as saying, “He wanted to work outside and attend Kavi Sammelans, but Taarak Mehta is a daily soap with an ensemble cast, and it was not possible to accommodate his request. We had a minor fight over it in April last year, after which he never returned to shoot.
Giving more details about his fallout, Asit said that in September last year, the makers of the show replaced Shailesh with Sachin Shroff after he did not return. According to Asit, it is not fair for Sailesh to use his couplets and poems to “target” him. Asit expresses his displeasure over the situation, noting that he and Shailesh previously had a positive relationship.
The portal later contacted Lodha for his comment on Asit’s claim. However, Sailesh refused to comment on the ongoing case saying that it is sub-judice. However, he noted that he has been an established poet since 1981 and is confident that he can provide documented evidence to address each of Asit’s claims.
