Twitter reportedly sent a company-wide email to its estimated 7,500 employees warning that layoff Will start on Friday.
Murder Isn̵7;t Unexpected As New Twitter Boss Elon Musk has repeatedly stated that the company needs a reduction in force and has a very large management level. Soon after he took office, he fired top executives and began the assassination process shortly after he brought his team from Tesla to monitor the remaining employees during the transition.
The New York Times is Reporting that Twitter employees received an email of doom today, warning them of the impending axe.
Employees were instructed to go home and not return to the office on Friday as the deduction went ahead. The message came from a generic address and was signed “Twitter”. The email did not specify the number of cuts, but previous reports have indicated it would be in the thousands.
“In an effort to get Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce,” the email said. “We believe this will affect the many individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is unfortunately necessary to further the company’s success.”
Musk’s early days as the owner of Twitter have been controversial. Employee petitions and ad-hoc organizations trying to pressure advertisers have already surfaced. Musk has also stirred up passion among the Blue Check set, saying he’ll start charging them for his beloved mark of excellence.
Employees are already seeing a change in the culture. On Thursday, Musk canceled Twitter’s “days of rest,” which is monthly days off so employees can rest and recharge. Instead, images are emerging of employees sleeping at their desks in an effort to meet Musk’s strict deadline on the site’s improvements.
