11:24 am: Confused UK Prime Minister boris johnsonThe grip on power weakened further on Tuesday as two top cabinet ministers resigned to protest the handling of misconduct allegations against a prominent Conservative Party legislator.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid posted resignation letters within minutes of each other, which could signal the end of Johnson’s premiership.

Javid wrote: “It is with great regret that I must tell you that I cannot continue to serve in this government with good conscience any longer,”

Sunak said the public expected his government to operate “properly, competently and seriously.”

There is growing condemnation and disarray within Britain’s right-wing Conservative Party for Johnson’s handling of a series of misconduct incidents within his ranks.

In the latest case, Johnson has been forced to apologize for keeping former Conservative Party whip Chris Pincher in office following allegations of sexual misconduct.

The resignations of Javid and Sunak are particularly significant as both ministers have remained loyal to Johnson during various scandals.
