Upfront Week 2022 Presentation & Party Schedule: Portfolio Pitches, Fewer Parties & Jimmy Kimmel

Emerging from the long shadow of COVID, we are witnessing what is traditionally known as Broadcast Upfront Week, a ritual preceded by three-network days and focuses on the annual decline of new car models. The moniker is less apt than it was earlier this year, with The CW being the only broadcast network doing a standalone event; All others are part of corporate portfolio presentations. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, architect of the $43 billion merger of Discovery-WarnerMedia, is expected to take the stage and make the case for the combined entity. Another recently merged entity, TelevisaUnivision, will make its debut. Additionally, YouTube, a newfronter, has carved a niche for itself with breakfast and its own brandcast extravaganza.

After peaking almost four years ago, the party portion of the first week has dropped dramatically. The agency bash (and Entertainment Weekly and People’s cocktail reception) are a thing of the past, only to carry on its 27-year tradition of hosting top executives at WME’s traditional Peter Luger dinner.

Plus another upfront staple continues—Jimmy Kimmel’s hugely popular Upfront Roast at a Disney presentation, which, along with the Fox event, has abandoned its longtime location for a new one.

The TV advertising business of over $60 billion looks a lot different than everyone else last collected in 2019. Media companies are now fully investing in streaming, so they’re making pitches for both linear and digital properties. And yet, Netflix’s recent struggles have highlighted the need to balance digital overtures with the preaching of reaching for the old-fashioned way.

Below is the full schedule of presentations and parties during the week ahead. (Note: ALL TIME ET.)
