wheelhouse UK wins first commission with Channel 5’s ‘Puzzling’
Jimmy Kimmel And Brett Montgomery’s Wheelhouse has secured its first UK commission, a Channel 5 quiz format produced with ITV Studios-backed 12 Yards. In Complicated [working title], broadcaster and historian Lucy Worsley will challenge Britain’s brightest minds in five rounds on language, calculation, lateral thinking, visual intelligence and memory. In a dramatic plot twist, the winning teams then take turns to name each other the ‘Best of the Best’ and earn a spot in the series’ Grand Finals, where the winner will be crowned. The series is the first revealing commission for the UK branch of Wheelhouse, run by former deal or No deal the creator Glen Hugill, who founded it earlier this year. 12 Yards is the co-producer. Channel 5 rarely operates quiz formats but this has recently been taken up. eggheads, another high-end quiz show which used to air on BBC Two. Hugill said, “There’s nothing better than the satisfaction of solving a truly fiendish puzzle, and on this show, we go toe-to-toe with all parts of the brain to see how smart you really are.”
Axel Miliam and Ebony Aboge set drama fantasy ‘Dali’
Axel Milliam (secret Life) and ebony aboge (staging) is signed in to star in branch, drama fantasy from London-based studio Look Aside Films and US-based Palm Haven Studios. Exhibitors Viu signs Katrina Cliff and Henry Burch
Exhibitor VU International Group has appointed Katrina Cliffe and Henry Birch to its non-executive board of directors. Cliffe currently holds the role of Non-Executive Director at DCC plc and International Personal Finance Plc where she is also a member of the Audit Committee. His experience spans the payments industry and broader financial services. Birch has held a number of CEO roles including at The Very Group, The Rank Group, William Hill Online and Leisure & Gaming plc. He has also held non-executive roles at Plus500 plc and was a Trustee and Chair of the Audit Committee at Gambleware. During his previous executive roles, Birch focused on developing customer-centric strategies, ensuring each organization was more data driven and technology enabled. The pair join Tom Singer, non-executive director and chairman of Wu International’s audit committee, and Stella David, non-executive chair of Wu International, both of whom were appointed earlier this year.
