In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, in 2021 Ben Affleck slammed the press as the actor recalled, “People were thinking very badly of him. Sexist, racist, ugly, hateful profanity was written about her in such a way that if you wrote it now you would actually be fired for saying the things you said. Affleck continued, “It seems now that she is appreciated and respected for the work she’s done, where she’s come from, what she’s accomplished – as well as she should be.” The Hollywood veteran further shared, “I would say you have a better chance coming from the Bronx, ending up like [Justice Sonia] Sotomayor on the Supreme Court, compared to Jennifer Lopez’s career and who she is today at age 50.

The Gone Girl star also took a dig at the paparazzi culture, saying, “You know, there’s always a story of the month, and my dating Jennifer Lopez was a tabloid story at a time when this business boomed.”
