Oscar producer Will Packer addressed Hollywood star Will Smith while slapping comedian Chris Rock at the ceremony.

In a preview clip of Packer’s upcoming interview on “Good Morning America,” he shared that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) was on the scene Sunday night and prepared for arrest. Blacksmith If The Rock wants to press charges, Variety reports.

“They were saying, you know, it’s the battery, that was a word they used at that moment. They said, ‘We’ll go get him. We’re ready. We’re ready to take him now.’ You can charge, we can arrest him,'” Packer said.

“They were taking out options. And while they were talking, Chris was pretty much dismissive of those options. He was like, ‘No, no, no, I’m fine.’ And even to the point where I said, ‘Rock, let them finish’. The LAPD officers ended up explaining what options he had and said, ‘Do you want us to take any action?’ And he said ‘no’. He said no.”

In the clip, Packer also said that he did not speak directly to Smith on Oscar night. As ‘Variety’ reported on Sunday night, Rock refused to file a police report regarding Thappad.

“LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during an Academy Awards event. The incident involved one person slapping the other,” the LAPD statement said.

“The person involved has refused to file a police report. If the party involved wants a police report at a later date, the LAPD will be available to complete an investigation report.

There is a lot of confusion about the dispute because Academy said in a statement Wednesday that he asked Smith to leave the ceremony and he declined; However, sources have since denied that claim of ‘diversity’.

Also in Wednesday’s statement, the Academy revealed that Smith now faces “suspension, expulsion, or other sanctions permitted” as a result of the slap.

Smith issued an apology on Monday, specifically addressing The Rock, which he didn’t do in his Best Actor speech the night before. Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, The Rock responded to the slap in public for the first time during a comedy show in Boston.

“I don’t have a bunch of crap about what happened, so if you hear it, I have a whole show that I wrote about before this weekend,” he said. “I’m still processing what happened. So, at some point I’ll talk about that sh**. And it’ll be serious and fun.”
