Will Smith’s post-slap Oscars acceptance speech spiked audience by 600,000 viewers

According to data from Live + Same Day Nielsen, viewership for the Oscars on ABC increased by 511,000 viewers during the 15-minute period in which Will Smith slapped Chris Rock.

According to ‘Variety’, where the Oscar audience fell, it rose again during this time BlacksmithBest actor win and acceptance speech shortly after 11 p.m. ET, this time by 614,000 viewers.
