on the occasion of International Women’s DayIn an open letter, Yami makes a humble appeal to help end sexual violence. Taking to her social media, the actress shared the note.
A portion of Yami Gautam’s long note read, “Naina’s character in the film inspired me to know what trauma, stigma and agony victims have gone through. I feel bad for her. All I want is an end to this – women are subjected to cruelty, sometimes even behind closed doors by their loved ones, humiliation by those affected, and above all instilled fear in those women Where are they who are responsible for it. Them.”

The actress garnered praise for her stellar performance in her latest hostage thriller – ‘A Thursday’. Yami played the role of a playschool teacher who holds 13 children hostage for ransom in the city. As the story progresses, it is revealed that her character suffered sexual abuse as a minor. Yami deeply connected with the theme of the film and raised awareness about this social issue.
In doing so, Yami Gautam joined hands with two NGOs that work towards empowering women and rehabilitating women who have been victims of sexual abuse. This is indeed a noble step to help those who have been abused.
