Famous Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiar, who gained popularity in Hindi film industry with her role opposite Rishi Kapoor henna, recently shared candid details about her personal life in a heartfelt interview. The veteran actress shed light on her tumultuous marriage to singer-composer Adnan Sami and the emotional toll of their son Azaan Sami̵7;s custody battle.
Zeba Bakhtiar recalls 18-month custody battle with Adnan Sami; Says “I lost my mind”
In an exclusive conversation with Aamna Haider Isani, Zeba Bakhtiar reveals that after her marriage to Adnan, she decided to put her acting career on hold and focus completely on her family life. She said, “At that time, I was not interested in continuing acting. I wanted to write, maybe produce. I was not involved in acting. Then I married Adnan and Azaan was born, I was totally invested in that. But when the marriage didn’t work out, I started doing production and other projects.”
The veteran actress candidly shared the challenges she faced during her son’s 18-month-long custody battle. Zeba described the emotional impact it had on her mental health, saying, “I had lost my mind. I was functioning as a coping mechanism somewhere, but I wasn’t there. I had huge patches that I couldn’t remember. It was very difficult.”
She further added, “But I am grateful that I got back with Azaan. It had been 18 months since the custody battle. I was not working during that time, but some of my friends told me to work for my sanity. There was a friend who was doing a serial in England and I joined the same show. I went to London for a few months to shoot for it.”
For the unaware, Adnan and Zeba married in 1993 and had a son named Azaan. However, after a few years, they separated, and a divorce ensued as well as a custody battle, which was eventually won by Zeba.
